Dan Bilzerian is a professional Poker player and actor and his most notable win came in 2009 at the World Series of Poker Main Event, where he appeared on TV six times during the broadcasting of the contest.
He won over $36,000 and finished 180th in the rankings, however in 2010 Dan Bilzerian was also voted one of the funniest Poker players on Twitter by a magazine for gamblers called Bluff.
In March of 2011, he raced a fellow car enthusiast Tom Goldstein for a hefty $385,000 wager at the Las Vegas Speedway. Goldstein, a Supreme court litigator, drove his Ferrari 458 Italia, whilst Bilzerian sat behind the wheel of a 1965 AC Cobra. Bilzerian won the race and walked away with the cash.
In November of 2011, Bilzerian along with Gabe Kaplan and nine other actors including Nick Cassavetes, were asked to pay back Poker winnings. These had been secured from Bradley Ruderman, a Ponzi scheme operator. They were requested to be returned after Ruderman was sentenced to prison, so funds could be distributed amongst his victims.
2013 would see Bilzerian appear as a stuntman in the movie Olympus Has Fallen, then later he played the part of Sr. Chief Healy in the 2013 movie Lone Survivor. This he followed up with in 2014, with appearances in movies The Equalizer, The Other Woman and Cat Run 2.
The interest in Dan Bilzerian continues to make the news and also in 2014 he offered financial assistance to Las Vegas couple Nicole and Brian Hammond, foster parents to six children all with special needs. He had heard of their plight from a You Tube video, and their story had obviously struck a chord.
Whether that will be enough to endear the American public in his bid to run for the US presidency in the 2016 election, remains to be seen. One would guess he's bound to conjure up a few twists and turns along the way. Get ready for a lively campaign and some extra spice added to the mix. Politics may never be the same, would that be so bad?
